Greg Stanfield’s quickest qualifying run didn’t come until Saturday’s last session and it put him 14th in the Pro Stock lineup for Sunday’s Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals at Commerce, Ga. Stanfield and crew chief Eddie Guarnaccia continued making tune-up adjustments to the new Nitro Fish/Coffman Tank Trucks Pro Stock Camaro that is in its fourth race. The car responded with a quarter-mile run of 6.694 seconds at 206.94 mph. He also began the day with a lap of 6.697 at 206.23 and had times of 6.700 and 6.696 in Friday’s sessions. “It takes time to figure out what the new car likes and what it doesn’t like,” said Stanfield. “We plan to test next week and work it out.” Stanfield will race Greg Anderson (No. 3, 6.625 at 208.62) in the opening round at Atlanta Dragway.
