Stanfield Hopes ‘New Car Issues’ Solved In Time For Atlanta Race

  1. There have been times lately when Greg Stanfield feels like the new Nitro Fish/Coffman Tank Trucks Pro Stock Camaro he’s driving has a mind of its own. It certainly has not been responding to the tune-up changes like it did in its first race last month in Las Vegas.

During that competitive weekend, Stanfield qualified 12th and notched two round wins before he was sent to the sidelines. However, the team has packed up after first-round losses at Charlotte and again last Sunday at Houston.

“We are fighting some issues in our new car,” Stanfield said. He went home Sunday night to his engine shop in Bossier City, La. to start preparing the team’s engines for the Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals, Friday through Sunday, at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Ga.

This isn’t the best time for the team to have back-to-back Full Throttle Series races.

“We are having trouble getting the car to transition like it should. It is frustrating. We have been on the go. We’ll keep working on the car and motors until it’s time to go to Atlanta. We’ll give it our best shot and see what happens,” said Stanfield.
